Moruga man jailed on three counts of larceny

RAION CHARLES, 25, of Basse Terre Village, Moruga, appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today.
He was sentenced to 18 months’ for one count of larceny, 18 months’ for the next count of larceny and 30 months’ for house breaking and larceny to be served concurrently.
Charles, aka “Banton” was charged yesterday following reports made to the Moruga Police station. The first victim reported that around 6pm on the 23rd April, 2021, he secured his bicycle at his home.
The following morning, he noticed that it was missing. He later observed the suspect riding the bicycle along the roadway.
The bicycle however, was returned two days later.
Upon returning the item, the man was in possession of a STIHL brush cutter along with a gas tank and fire cracker, items which were reported stolen by the other two victims. PC Samaroo, of the Moruga Police Station, conducted enquiries into the reports made by the three victims on the 23rd, 24th and 25th April, 2021.
Based on investigations, police held the suspect.
PC Samaroo subsequently charged the accused with two counts of larceny and one count of house breaking and larceny.
