Law Reform Commission Submits Draft Amendments To Computer Misuse Act

The Law Reform Commission has prepared and summited draft amendments to the Computer Misuse Act.

This has been done to better address Cyber Crime Offences in Trinidad and Tobago.

It is also being carried out to establish a more robust framework for the enforcement of cybercrime penalties.

On Tuesday, the Senate was told the draft legislation is currently being reviewed by the Attorney General.

In a supplemental question Independent Senator, Charrise Seepersad, wanted to know from the AG what are the major challenges the government has identified in treating with cyber-crime offences.

In response Attorney General, Reginald Armour, told the Senate of the dynamic nature of cybercrime and assured the government will engage all relevant stake holders in consultations.
