Kamla won due to “election inequality” says defeated candidate

Defeated UNC leadership candidate, Dr Fuad Khan says election inequality ensured his loss in Sunday’s election.

Speaking with News Power Now, Dr Khan said he was always at a disadvantage given the resources at the disposal of incumbent leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Dr Khan expanded upon his claims, listing examples of what he cited as unfair advantages given to Mrs Persad-Bissessar.

He told News Power Now that the result left him with little hope that the leadership of the party will ever see a change such as the one manufactured by Mrs Persad-Bissessar when she managed to wrangle the party’s reins from then leader Basdeo Panday.

Asked what his political future holds, Dr Khan said he will take a while to reflect on this before coming to a decision.
