Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says persons with licensed firearms should be allowed to “light up” criminals who attempt home invasions.
She made the comment while speaking at the UNC’s Monday night forum.
Persad-Bisessar was at the time addressing the UNC’s position on the “Stand your Ground” law.
She said the UNC will ensure law abiding citizens have access to legal gun ownership to defend themselves.
Persad-Bissessar added “When criminals invade your home you can draw your licensed firearm and light them up empty the whole clip…empty it…light them up”.
The Opposition Leader said citizens have “fight fire with fire”.
