Jacob retires from TTPS but open to CoP post

Now retired Police Officer McDonald Jacob has suggested that the door isn’t closed on him becoming Police Commissioner.

Jacob served as Acting Police Commissioner after Gary Griffith was not reappointed to the post.

Jacob however reached the age of retirement on Saturday and was not offered the substantive post signalling an end to his time with the TTPS.

However, Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show raised the question of him returning to the service as the post of Commissioner is a contract position and he is not precluded from filling the vacancy.

Asked if he was still hoping to get the nod for the position, Mr Jacob revealed that he was still interested.

However he added that he still intended to contribute to the landscape even if he did not get the job.

Jacob shied away from saying what he would do differently if anything at all, were he to be given the post.

However, he noted in his capacity as a criminologist that there must be a serious focus placed on T&T’s location as a trans-shipment point.
