Will Smith wins first-ever Golden Globe

Actor/Rapper, Will Smith recently won his first Golden Globe for his role in King Richard, (Venus and Serena father).

After previously being nominated five times over the years by the award ceremony, Smith, 53, was named Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama on Sunday.

Smith beat out a good lineup of male actors, including Mahershala Ali in Swan Song, Javier Bardem in Being the Ricardos, Benedict Cumberbatch in The Power of the Dog, and Denzel Washington in The Tragedy of Macbeth.

The award ceremony, which was not televised or live-streamed this year announced the winner for its nominations via Instagram.

The film, King Richard details the events leading up to Richard Williams turning his two daughters into tennis pros. The film is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Greenand produced by Venus and Serena Williams.
