Three suspects who were held on Friday morning for various narcotic offences are scheduled to appear virtually on Monday at the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court.
They are Samuel Nicosi Matthews and his wife Celestine Matthews, both 33, of Fish Port, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, who were jointly charged with Possession of 410 Grammes of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of 502 Grammes of Cannabis and Horres Cruickshank , 38, Tyndale Extension, Mayaro, who was charged with Possession of 184 Grammes of Cannabis.
The Matthews were jointly charged on November 17th by Cpl Jaikaran of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), while Cruickshank was also charged today by Cpl Joseph, also of the Mayaro CID.
The accused were arrested following several raids which are a part of the ongoing drug suppression efforts in the Eastern Division.
The operation was executed by CID officers led by Sgt (Ag.) Mohammed and personnel attached to the Mounted and Canine Branch.
According to police reports, between 4 am and 8 am on November 17th, officers executed several search warrants at the homes of four priority offenders during which they allegedly found various narcotics with the assistance of Canine Officers Cpl Bernard and PC Kalpoo with Canines Sherriff and Anya, respectively.
