Two high-powered rifles and quantities of narcotics and ammunition were discovered by officers of the Western Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Maraval district on Wednesday.
Between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm, officers proceeded to a forested area in the Maraval district, where they found two AR-15 rifles fitted with two magazines, 26 rounds of 5.56 ammunition and 77 12-gauge cartridges.
They also discovered 21.3 kilogrammes of marijuana and 90 grammes of cocaine.
The marijuana has an estimated street value of $213,000.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP William Nurse and coordinated by Snr. Supt (Ag) Thomson. It also included officers of the Western Division Task Force, Port of Spain Division, Western Division Criminal Investigations Department, Inter-Agency Task Force and the Canine Branch.
Investigations are ongoing.
