Body surfaces of man who drowned at Las Cuevas beach

The semi-decomposing body of a man washed ashore along the northern coast on Tuesday afternoon.

The body is believed to be that of 23-year-old Tyler Roberts, who drowned while bathing at Las Cuevas beach on Saturday.

He disappeared under the water, and several unsuccessful searches were conducted for his body.

According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, the body was spotted by a villager floating on the edge of the Las Cuevas shoreline around 3:45 pm.

The rescue team said further that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Air Support Unit personnel, led by Acting Inspector Ronny Rampallard, recovered the body to secure it from loss with the receding tide and current.
