Health Minister: Delta variant becoming dominant variant in T&T

Health Minister Terrence Minister Deyalsingh says that a large percentage of patients in the ICU are unvaccinated.

With the Delta Variant is now becoming the dominant strain in T&T, he explained that the best way not to stretch the parallel health care system is for persons to get vaccinated.

The Health Minister also weighed in on the controversy surrounding the comments by the head of the Nursing Association regarding the allocation of limited ICU beds to vaccinated persons over non-vaccinated persons.

Mr Stewart sugegsted that given the limited number of ICU beds, vaccinated persons should be given preference over unvaccinated persons when allocating beds.

He has since said that his comment was taken out of context as he was at the time answering a specific hypothetical question posed to him about the scenario.

Minister Deyalsingh told Power 102 Digital that he understands Mr Stewart’s frustration and begged persons to get vaccinated.
