One man is dead following an early morning shooting in Siparia.
The incident also left a second man nursing gunshot wounds.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Leroy Sifontis, while the injured man remains unknown.
Reports say that Sifontis, also known as Bhal of Mahappy Trace off Darson Trace, Siparia and a 20-year-old fellow villager were standing at the junction of Darsan Trace along Siparia Old Road at around 5:10 am today, when a red Hyundai vehicle stopped for them.
Sifontis and the victim entered the vehicle.
However, after driving a short distance away, the front seat passenger pointed a gun at them and tried to rob them.
Sifontis and the victim tried to exit the moving car but were shot.
They both fell out of the vehicle.
Sifontis was shot in the side of his chest and died at the scene, while the other victim was shot on his buttocks.
Investigations are continuing.
