Police seize firearm, magazines and ammo in North Eastern Division

Officers attached to the North-Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) seized a firearm, two magazines and three rounds of ammunition in two separate incidents on September 24th 2021.

In the first instance, officers proceeded to Mt. Hope Road, Mt. Hope after receiving information about several men, armed with firearms, in the area. On arrival at the location, the officers observed a group of men, who, on seeing the approaching vehicles, fled in several directions.

The officers gave chase but the men managed to elude the officers. One suspect was observed throwing an object into an overgrown area by a pair of officers in pursuit. The object was retrieved and found to be an extended magazine with the word ‘GLOCK’ inscribed.

In the second instance, based on information received regarding a man with a firearm, the team of officers proceeded to Noriega Lane, Laventille Road, Febeau Village, San Juan. At the location, after receiving further information, a search was conducted of a rubbish bin. Concealed in a plastic bag, inside the bin was one firearm and a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.

Investigations into both incidents are continuing.
