PM Rowley To Opposition – Support Making CCJ Final Appellate Court

The government is calling on the Opposition to put its support behind the Port of Spain based Caribbean Court of Justice as the country’s final appellate court.

Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, made the plea during the People’s National Movement’s Sport and Family Day on Sunday at the Toco Secondary School.

Dr Rowley claimed when the People’s Partnership lost the election it decided to no longer rally behind the CCJ.

However, Dr Rowley insisted more and more regional countries are giving their backing to the CCJ.

The Prime Minister said there are several Caribbean nations which are now recognising the value and importance of the CCJ.

The London based Privy Council is Trinidad and Tobago’s final court of appeal.
