Government Can’t Afford To Offer Public Servants More Than Four Percent, Says Prime Minister

“The government will love to give public servants a ten or fifteen percent increase in salaries.”

However, Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, has said the government cannot afford this.

Dr Rowley made the comments while speaking at a news briefing following the presentation of the national budget on Monday.

The Prime Minister said, in the past, government borrowed money to pay public servants.

One trade union has already accepted the four percent offer now before the bargaining table with the Chief Personnel Officer.
