An elderly Trinidad-born British resident and his sister were robbed at gunpoint in a home invasion in Claxton Bay on Monday.
Reports state that the 78-year-old man and his 86-year-old sister retired to bed at around 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, and were awakened by noises in their house at around 4.30 a.m.
Upon checking the house, the elderly man was accosted by five men – two of whom were armed with guns.
The suspects tied his hands and feet with pieces of clothing and beat him as they demanded cash and valuables.
The thieves stole 6,000 Euros, as well as his cell phone valued at $1,200.
They then ambushed the elderly woman in her bedroom and also bound her hands and feet with pieces of clothing.
Her jewellery and her cell phone were stolen.
The bandits then left the house with the items.
The elderly siblings freed each other and raised an alarm with the neighbours who contacted the police.
Officers of the St Margaret’s Police Station responded and searched for suspects but no one was arrested.
The victims were advised to seek medical attention.
Police are now on the hunt for the five criminals.
