The Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses programme, better known as GATE, will be expanded to cover full tuition costs of medical students (MBBS), studying at UWI Mona and Cave Hill.
The Education Ministry says this measure will take effect from August 2024 and aims to provide students with the opportunity to reach their highest potential and support the national workforce development.
The budgetary allocation under the GATE Programme is currently valued at TT$400 million per fiscal year.
