Former PSC President says T&T President should not remain silent on CoP appointment

Trinidad and Tobago President Paula May Weeks should not remain silent of the issue of the appointment of the Commissioner of Police, so says Former Chairman of the PSC Prof Ramesh Deosaran.

He has called on the President to make a public declaration about the challenges facing the PSC in carrying out this task.

He said the process is not as constitutionally dependent as it should be.

He claims this is seriously affecting the appointment of a Police Commissioner.

He said that PSC has come under scrutiny following the appointment of Gary Griffith as Acting Police Commissioner following the end of his contract on August 17th.
