HDC Evicts 394 Persons Between 2009 To 2024

From 2009 to 2024, 394 persons have been evicted from the Housing Development Corporation Units for either illegally occupying the homes or not paying their arrears.

Of this amount for the same period, 376 were for illegal occupancy while the remainder was for not honouring their monthly commitments.

It was revealed evicted tenants did not respond to the HDC’s attempts to get them to honour their obligations.

The evicted tenants are expected to still settle their arrears.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson Regis, explains at present 2 million, 105 thousand dollars for rent to own units is the outstanding amount to the HDC.

This was made public in the Senate on Tuesday in response to questions from the Order Paper.

The amount for unpaid rent stands at 241.7 million dollars and focus is being placed on the collection of outstanding funds which has yielded nine million dollars so far.
