Fire officials respond to third fire this week

Fire officials have had to respond to the third fire this week, this time, at a family home in Rio Claro.

Around 10:30am on Tuesday, officials from the Mayaro Fire station responded to a report of a house on fire at Oilfied Road in Rio Claro. The fire started when lightning struck a pole near to the family’s two-storey home. Although officials were able to contain the fire before it spread, residents say they lost almost all of their belongings in the blaze. The building was said to be the home of five persons, including a pregnant woman and two children. Luckily, no one was at home.

Earlier this week, fire officials had to put out fires at Massy Stores in Arima and a family home in Marabella.
