Red 96.7 DJ shot dead in Laventille

A 24-year-old disc jockey employed with Red 96.7 FM was shot dead in Laventille.

Elijah ‘Sugarz’ Babb of La Puerta, Diego Martin was seated in the back-seat of a silver Honda City, along with two other people as they left a party at Eastern Quarry Road, Pump Trace, Laventille, around 8.10 am yesterday.

The car was driven by a 20-year-old man of Sixth Street, Barataria – while a 34-year-old female relative of Babb’s from Wharton Street, Laventille, was seated in the front passenger seat.

As they were driving out of the area, gunmen began shooting at the car.

Upon checking, the driver and passenger realised Babb had been shot multiple times and was bleeding profusely.

They drove to the Besson Street Police Station and were later escorted by officers from the Guard & Emergency Branch to the POSGH where Babb was pronounced dead on arrival.

Babb’s parents identified his body at hospital.

Crime scene officials reportedly recovered several 9 mm spent shell casings at the scene
