Elias breaks his silence

A TTPS report issued earlier during the day stated that businessman EMILE ELIAS was granted $100,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace last night in connection with two sexual charges against a 17-year-old girl.
According to the report, ELIAS, 84, is expected to appear before the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on March 24th.
ELIAS, who resides in Fairways, Maraval, was charged on March 10th with one count of sexual penetration and one count of sexual grooming by officers attached to the Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU).
The charges stemmed from an alleged incident in November 2019 in which a 17-year-old girl reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by a man in St James.

Ample issued the following statement this afternoon:

“In keeping with an official Brief which our Agency has received, we note the widespread media publication of a current legal matter involving Mr Emile Elias.

Mr Elias completely refutes in the strongest possible terms the allegations made against him.

He looks forward to establishing his innocence under the due process of law. Given the fact that the matter is now before the Courts and therefore sub-judice, Mr. Elias is unable to make any further comments.”
