On the heels of the tragedy at sea, in which several Venezuelan nationals drowned while trying to make their way to Trinidad, activist Yesena Gonzalez says this is not the first time a tragedy such as this one has occurred.
She says Venezuelans will continue to risk their lives because of the dire situation that exists in their country at present.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning she stated many who place themselves and loved ones in danger on the high seas do so out of shear desperation.
She said sheer desperation is propelling many Venezuelans to take drastic actions to escape their homeland.
Gonzalez says she believes the authorities must take the situation more seriously.
