A 28-year-old-man who was a known drug offender was shot and killed in Belmont this morning.
Reports indicate that Richard Clarke of East Dry River was in his car around 2:45am this when he was ambushed as he drove along the corner of Jerninghma Avenue and Norfolk Street. Police believe his death may be as a result of war over drug turf. They said a high powered rifle was used to shoot Clarke as 5.56mm shells were discovered where the shooting took place.
Police are continuing investigations.
