UWI based economist Dr Marlene Attz says the business and economic plans of both the government and business sector plans can go awry if Trinidad and Tobago does not effectively treat with the crime situation, which is affecting business operations
Dr. Attz, speaking on the Power Breakfast show this morning, said the leadership of the country needs to holistically examine the crime challenge to more effectively manage its impact on the economy and country as a whole.
Her sentiments echoed the comments of former Minister in the Ministry of Finance Mariano Browne yesterday, who said that the burgeoning crime rate continues to spiral as the year draws to a close and its impact on the economy is of increasing concern.
Dr. Attz added that until we address a cross cutting issue like crime , the impact on foreign direct investors will challenge on our ability to attract investors and grow the economy sustainably.
