DPP drops misbehaviour charge against Marlene McDonald

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard via a notice on March 25th during a virtual hearing on Thursday dropped one of the charges against former Minister Marlene McDonald.

DPP Gaspard said he is discontinuing the proceedings against Ms. McDonald for misbehaviour in public office as this was done one pursuant to the provisions of Section 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

McDonald was charged in April 2019. The offence dates back to April 2010 when as Minister of Community Development when approvals for payment of $2.3 million to be applied towards the construction of a community facility at Marcano Quarry Lands in Laventille, without obtaining approval.
