The new strain of Covid 19 which has found its way onto our shores, does not come with any new or additional symptoms for the public to be worried about at this time.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Roshan Parasram, in response to a question by this media house, said that so far, the symptoms for the new variant are the same are the current Covid strain.
Referencing the national who returned from the UK with the variant, Parasram said “in this particular patient the person actually had no symptoms at all…the person is asymptomatic.”
However, “the symptomology is more or less the same and we would look out for, in mild cases – sore throat, headaches, fevers, chills, generally feeling unwell, which can present with diahorrea, in some cases vomiting. Of course more severe cases will have shortness of breath. SO the symptoms are suggestively the same based on the research so far.”
