A sobering waring from this country’s Chief Medical Offficer Dr. Roshan Parsaram, that given the trends and movements of viruses , it’s only a matter of time before the more virulent and transmissible Delta variant of coronavirus reaches Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Parsaram was invited by Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh to address the business community at NAPA this morning for the official launch of the private/public mass vaccination sites across Trinidad. Dr. parsaram warned the population that the only way to protect the population from the inevitability of the arrival of delta to T&T was through vaccination:
The CMO compared the Delta variant to what he saw when Zika made it’s was through several caribbean countries and said despite all precautions in place it’s only a matter of time for the highly virulent strain of delta to reach our shores. This he said had the potential to overwhelm the health care system.
