Carli Bay fisherfolk failed to liaise with Coast Guard before going out to sea

Carli Bay fishermen are being urged to work with the Coast Guard and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Coastal and Riverine Unit in the fight against piracy.

The plea comes from National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital today, Minister Hinds said the fisher folk were asked to liaise with the Coast Guard before they go out to sea.

This Minister Hinds will place the Coast Guard in a better position to respond to emergency situation which may arise.

 

Minister Hinds said training offered to fisherfolk have not been taken advantage of.

 

Meanwhile, the National Security Minister also questioned on the issue of human trafficking in Trinidad and Tobago adding the matter is high on government’s agenda.
