CMO concerned; slight increase in Covid-19 cases over the last 2 weeks

Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram says there has been an increase in cases of Covid19.

Speaking at Saturday’s media briefing, Dr Parasram said that the authorities are carefully monitoring epidemiological trends over the last two weeks as they have been seeing a slight increase in the upward direction.

He said “It has become a little more acute over the last week or so…notably so…with a daily average of 37 and it is a cause for concern.”

Parasram said as small as they might be, they cannot ignore these increases, as this could balloon into something more significant quickly as evidenced by what was happening in others parts of the world.

He said cluster cases were being found in homes and workplaces where people felt secure and comfortable to remove masks and interact as usual.
