The Community-Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme is not reducing its workforce by two –thirds.
Confirmation of this comes from Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Dr Kazim Hosein.
Minister Hosein gave the update during the question and answer period in the Senate today.
Minister Hosein was at the time responding to a question posed to him on the subject by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark.
Senator Mark wanted to know how many employees will be affected by the recent policy decision taken by the Government to reduce the number of teams attached to each CEPEP contractor.
Minister Hosein explained sixty workers in the programme were temporarily displaced.
However, Minister Hosein noted these workers will be reintegrated into the programme.
