Min. Cox To Senate: Gasparillo Fire Victims Offered Assistance From Social Development Ministry

A family, who lost their home due to a fire in Gasparillo, has received help from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services.

The blaze took place on January 23rd this year. The home was completely destroyed.

A 53 year old woman and her son occupied the dwelling place.

Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox, told the Senate on Tuesday that officers attached to the National Family Services Division, Division of Ageing and the National Social Development Programme visited the family and immediately assessed the damage so that assistance could be provided.

Minister Cox said no one was injured at the house when the fire occurred.

Minister Cox said the family is on the Ministry’s public assistant data base and has since been offered counseling and psycho-social support by the National Family Services Division of the Ministry.
