Blind Welfare Association Calls For Intervention And Settlement Of Outstanding Negotiations

The All Trinidad General Workers Trade Union is calling upon the Management of the Blind Welfare Association, the Chief Personnel Office and the Minister of Social Development to intervene and settle the negotiating period of 2016 to 2018 immediately.

It says these negotiations have been ongoing for years and it needs to come to an end now.

The Blind Welfare Association in September 2020 proposed a 15% increase in wages over a five year period for 2016 to 2020.

In March 2022 as other items were being negotiated, the Association reneged on its proposal, stating that it was waiting on the Minister of Finance and the CPO for guidance and advice.

To date it claims no reasonable proposal has been made and the Association has now reverted to offering 0, 0, 0, percent wage increase to the workers.
