Bharath: Proper planning must be put in place for ultimate collapse of energy sector

If one reflects on 2023 from an economic standpoint it can only be described as horrible.

This is according to Former United National Congress Minister Vasant Bharath who says that it has been a very poor year for T&T with regard to the economy.

He told the Power Breakfast Show this morning that fossil fuels have a life that is probably not going to go beyond the next 20 years so that T&T should have been making provisions for this and putting plans in place to mitigate the fallout when this occurs.

He lamented what he said was the lack of effective planning for this.

He insisted that T&T’s complete reliance on Dragon Field could very well deliver a devastating blow to the economy.

Bharath said our existing provision of energy is down and this is not enough to encourage international business interests to view T&T as a viable energy investment option.

Therefore if plans are engaged now then T&T would not be stuck in the next 15 to 20 years with a defunct product.
