Bed occupancy for ICU in the parallel health care system is critical at 90 percent

Principal Medical Officer Maryam Abdool Richards says that the bed occupancy for ICU in the parallel health care system is quite high.

She made the comment while speaking at the Ministry of Health’s Covid Update this morning.

She said that while the number of infections seems to have plateaued the ICU level occupancy has increased.

She said this is despite having protocols in place to mitigate against such issues.
