Police are now treating the death of 5-year-old Shakeel Williams as a homicide.
The body of Williams was reportedly found unresponsive at his family’s Doolay Lane, El Socorro home on Saturday, September 2nd.
He was carried to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex but was declared dead. Noticing, what they believed were, marks of violence to the child’s body, medical officials called in police officers.
An autopsy carried out sometime between Friday and Tuesday ruled that his cause of death was blunt force trauma, so the case is now with the Homicide Bureau of Investigations.
Reports are that a person known to the family is in custody and is assisting officers with their investigation. However, charges have not yet been laid.
