Bail Denied! Andrea’s alleged murderer and his wife remanded into custody

Negus George, the man accused of murdering Andrea Bharatt, has been remanded into custody and is set to reappear in court on March 10, along with his common-law wife Giselle Hobson.

George, 24, of Gooding Trace, Malabar, Arima, and 37-year-old common-law Hobson were denied bail when they appeared virtually before Magistrate Cheron Raphael on Thursday.

George was charged with Bharatt’s murder, while Hobson was only charged with receiving Bharatt’s stolen items, including a cellphone, ATM card, earrings, and an article of clothing.

Bharatt was last seen boarding a taxi in Arima on January 29 and her decomposing body was found down a precipice in the Heights of Aripo on February 4.
