Application for Licence Under the Private Hospitals Act

Persons seeking to operate a Private Hospital, whose institutions fall under the remit of the Private Hospitals Act, Chapter 29:53, are advised they are first required to be licensed by the Minister of Health under the Act.

In this regard, please note the following:

  1. An application must be made to the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Ministry of Health, together with supporting documents and proof of payment of the requisite licence fee.
  2. Payment should be made by cheque addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and delivered to the Cashier located on the Ground Floor, Ministry of Health’s New Corporate Headquarters, 4-6 Queen’s Park East, Port of Spain.
  3. The application form, process and fees are contained in the Act and are further available on the Ministry’s website at www.health.gov.tt

Previous licence holders are reminded that the licence is issued annually and expires on December 31st of each year. Therefore, an application for renewal of licensure must be made for each upcoming year, together with payment of the requisite licence fee.

All persons are reminded it is an offence to operate a Private Hospital without a licence from the Minister of Health.
