Minister of National Security Clears The Air On Acting Commissioner Of Police Issue.

Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, is making it clear he never gave any instruction for Acting Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, not to return to his desk beyond  September 20th .

Minister Hinds informed the Senate Friday of a breakdown of how matters unfolded surrounding Acting Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith’s suggestion in a letter to him he return to work about one week or some time before he was due to return  from a period of leave.

Minister Hinds said the leave was approved and the Police Service Commission was informed.

Minister Hinds said the Acting Commissioner of Police returned one week before the leave was due to expirE and inquired of him the following day whether he should return to his desk.

Minister Hinds said he should revert because he needed to understand the implications of that for his approved leave.

Minister Hinds said he also became aware that the Acting Commissioner of Police wrote similarly to the PSC which responding to him that would be a matter for the Minister of National Security.
