Antigua and Venezuela confirm cases of Covid-19

Antigua and Venezuela have now joined the list of countries with at least one case of the coronavirus (novel Covid-19).

According to Antigua’s news site, Antigua News Room, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said that the victim is a woman who traveled to Antigua from the United Kingdom on March 10.

The woman is in self-isolation at home and is receiving treatment.

The Prime Minister said, “The possibility that others may be affected is unlikely since the person has been in isolation. Other people who came into contact with the patient are to be tested.”

Meanwhile, Venezuela has confirmed two cases- making the country the first in South America to have the victims of the virus.

Rodriguez said the victims are two people who returned from an Iberia flight on March 5 and 8.

The Vice President has advised other passengers who also returned on Iberia Flight 6673 on those dates to quarantine themselves.

As a precaution, schools have been suspended beginning on Monday.
