Prison inmate Timothy Sonny died at 9.30 a.m., at the maximum security prison in Arouca. He was found unresponsive in his cell at Block C at MSP. He was taken to the Arima Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have been notified and a post mortem has been ordered to confirm how Sonny died.
Sonny an inmate at the Maximum Security Prison, having been convicted for offences including disorderly behaviour and possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.
He was found unresponsive during the prison unrest days ago at the prison. Several inmates locked themselves in a cell and lit a mattress in protest of being moved, in addition to their routine being interrupted. Prison authorities extinguished the blaze and returned order to the institution.
