Acting WASA CEO replaced following reports of unproductivity

Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, says Dr. Lennox Sealy will replace Acting Chief Executive Officer at the Water and Sewage
Authority, Allan Poon King, with immediate effect.

Dr Sealy is the current Chairman at WASA. Dr Sealy will also carry out the duties of Executive Director at the utility.

The announcement was revealed by Minister Gonzales at a news briefing held this afternoon.

In August 2020 Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, put together a cabinet subcommittee to look into the operations of WASA and determine a strategy to enable the utility to achieve its mandate.

On December 11 th a report from the committee was handed to the Prime Minister and formally submitted to the cabinet on January 11 th this year.

Since that time cabinet had been deliberating on the recommendations for the report which culminated in a special cabinet meeting held at the Diplomatic Center on Monday.

 

Minister Gonzales also gave the reasoning given behind the decision for the leadership change at WASA.
