Acting Commissioner’s nephew held in connection with former officer’s murder

One of the two men arrested by police in connection with the murder of a former police officer in Penal on Monday morning, is the nephew of acting Police Commissioner, McDonald Jacobs.

This was confirmed by the vacationing top cop himself, in an interview with the Express.

According to Jacobs, the 33-year-old of Princes Town man was known to be involved in illicit activities since he was a teenager and has also been charged several times in the past by the police officers who are aware he is his nephew.

Jacob said efforts have continuously been made “to get him out of that life that he got himself involved in”.

The man is the son of of Jacobs’ sister, who also happens to be a pastor.

Jacobs said: “She has been working with him but he still continued…He made his decisions so let the chips fall where they may.”

Former constable Syed Mohammed was shot dead outside his Katwaroo Trace home around 9.15 a.m. on Monday.

The murder suspects were intercepted in a car with false number plates in Penal. A gun was also found in the vehicle.
