Hospitals nearing maximum nurses to patient ratio

Hospitals in T&T are said to be approaching the maximum nurses to patient ratio which can result in more deaths.
So says the head of the T&T Registered Nurses Association, Idi Stewart.

Mr Stewart told News Power Now that increased patients coupled with a lack of nursing staff could have severe repercussions.

He is also calling for the Government to begin PCR testing.
He explained that nurses who come into contact with COVID positive persons are being currently forced to miss days at work, which increases the stress on their counterparts.

Mr Stewart pointed to the decision to not allow the current batch of nursing students to complete their training as evidence of the lack of foresight and planning regarding the staffing situation at hospitals.
