Teachers and Principals being refused vaccine appointments?

Many teachers and principals across the country are hoping to get inoculated in this latest vaccination drive, starting today.

However, reports reaching izzsomedia is that teachers and principals have been calling the Call Centres for vaccine appointments and are being refused once they have no non-communicable diseases (NCD’s).

President of the National Primary Schools Principals Association (NAPSPA) Carlene Hayes, told izzso this morning that many of her peers are interested in receiving the vaccine, as they are viewed as essential workers and she has even raised the question via the Health Ministry’s social media pages, but has yet to receive a response.

She said she has been told that there are different directives around the country at the Regional Health Authorities, but she sees it as vital that teachers receive the vaccine, especially as primary school principals and teachers have to supervise SEA 2021 on June 10th, 2021.

TTUTA President Antonia DeFreitas indicated to NAPSPA that they would be in Phase 3, whenever that takes place. But she said that teachers should be given the option as essential workers.

Attempts to reach the NCRHA head for a response went unanswered.
