Thirty artistes have been selected for the Semi Final round of the Chutney Soca Monarch competition.
It is scheduled for Friday 27th January at Screamers at South Haven, Debe.
From the Semi Final round, only 10 songs will be selected for the Grand Final which is scheduled for Saturday 4th February at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
Close to eighty persons registered new songs for the Chutney Soca Monarch semi-final competition, which is the largest number in more than 6 years.
More than ten percent of the registration has been from artistes coming from USA and Canada.
The screening process of the songs submitted was completed on January 14th this year.
This year event will feature the top entertainers from the Caribbean in a special feature ‘Legends and Icons’ where 6 special artistes from the Caribbean region will be honoured.
The segment will also feature performances from some of the icons of the Indo- Caribbean music industry.
