17-year-old boy injured in vehicular accident along South Trunk Road

Police are investigating the circumstance in which a 17-year-old driver was wounded in a road traffic accident on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 2 am this morning along the South Trunk Road, in the vicinity of the San Fernando Bye Pass.

Reports state that a blue Nissan X-trail had collided with an embankment, and flipped several times, before landing violently, trapping the driver inside.

When officers arrived, they saw the SUV on fire.

They had to wait for officials from the Mon Repos Fire Station to cut the driver out of the vehicle using the jaws of life.

The teenager was removed from the vehicle and taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
