A report has surfaced this morning of a Covid-19 scare at the Point Fortin Area Hospital.
News reaching izzso media is that a patient tested positive for the virus on Friday last, after undergoing surgery.
Now, as a result, four doctors and eight nurses are now quarantined.
Several workers at the hospital are now worried about their status, as the surgery took place minus certain protocol.
According to a hospital worker, who spoke under anonymity, established protocol states that no surgery be conduced until the patients Covid-19 test results come back negative.
However, in this instance, they did not wait, and the female patient underwent the surgery on Friday last, before her test came back positive for Covid-19.
Other hospital staff are worried since not all staff who came into contact with the patient have been quarantined.
And to make matters even worse, there were two other patients in the ward with the patient.
The workers are now demanding an investigation, to find out why there was a breach in protocol.
Contact tracing has also been initiated by the Health Ministry.
