Oropouche East MP predicts a budget filled with job cuts and hardship

Oropouche East MP, Dr Roodal Moonilal, is of the view that state workers will be axed in the 2021 Budget, which will be read to the nation on Monday.

He said based on what the Finance Minister and Prime Minister communicated in the recently held ‘Spotlight on the Budget’ at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, he predicts that there will be a “savage attack on workers.”

Moonilal suggested that from Rowley’s speech, it appears that T&TEC, WASA and port workers could be on the chopping block.

He also predicts that this will take place along with increases in water rates and electricity charges.

According to Moonilal: “There will be great suffering for the working poor and greater joblessness in the labour market.”
