$1.2M worth of cocaine seized at transit shed in Piarco

A large quantity of cocaine has been seized by officials of Customs and Excise, at a transit shed in the Piarco area.

The discovery was made around 3:00 pm on Tuesday.

Customs officials said they discovered a white powdery substance resembling cocaine in an air compressor destined for the Bahamas.

The contraband goods were packed in 20 blocks, wrapped in black plastic and inserted into the compressor.

The drugs weighed 22.42kgs with an estimated street value of $1.2 million dollars.

Investigations are ongoing.
