Wasa Installing New Pipeline To Address Issues On Morne Coco Road

The Water and Sewerage Authority is assuring residents of Morne Coco Road, Petit Valley it is working diligently to address issues impacting the reliability of service and leaks in the area, through the Morne Coco Road Pipeline
Replacement Project, which is expected to be completed over the next two weeks.

This project involves the installation of 2,340 meters of 200 mm pipelines along Morne Coco Road, from Hillcrest Drive to Sierra Leon Road, which will replace the existing aged pipeline that has resulted in frequent leaks and consequently regular disruptions in service to customers in the area.

The Authority is making every effort to complete the two phases of the project as
follows:
• Phase 1: Schneider Gardens to Hillcrest, to be completed by 3 rd February 2024
• Phase 2: Schneider Gardens to Sierra Leon, to be completed by 11th February 2024.

The project when completed, is expected to benefit approximately 2,400 customers from areas such as Hibiscus Drive, Dorchester Walk, Apple Blossom Avenue, Pointsetta Drive, Bourganvilla Drive, Pinewood Gardens, Chateaux Village, Crystal Stream, Simeon Road, Orchid Drive, Schneider Gardens, Chuma Monka Avenue, Leo Bass Avenue, and Queen Elizabeth Avenue, with an improved and more reliable service.

This will also significantly reduce the number of service disruptions, reduce water loss, and associated damage to the roadway due to leaks, as well as improve firefighting capacity for the area, through the installation of five additional fire hydrants.
